Bird Movement:  Short distance migrants began moving along the Lake Erie coast in early April.  Good movements of Fox Sparrows and Rusty Blackbirds have started.

First wave began on the 24th April.  Major movement with great variety.  93 species counted from banding site alone. The major first wave has continued through the 27th with surprising numbers and diversity.  23 species warbler alone seen on the 27th, part of 115 species observed on the study site. Storm cold front arrived at 9 AM on the 28th.  Temperature went from 60s to 40s in minutes as wind switched from SW to a Lake Erie Northeaster.  Bird and insect activity heavily affected in the light rain.

Weather appears that the second wave may hit on the 7th or 8th.  Diversity began increasing on the 6th but volume was low. The wave hit big time.  Tremendous variety and volume on the 8th -10th.

Second pulse of the second wave hit on the 16th with great volume and diversity.  Magnolia Warbler became dominant and variety of flycatchers appeared.

Third wave began 21 May with an increase in flycatchers and Red-eyed Vireos along with Wilson, Canada, Mourning and redstarts.

Migration is winding down with a minor push with a SW wind on 6 June.
